It is no more news that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), is broke.
Damn too broke to even pay salary for this month going by revelation by its boss, Ibrahim Lamorde, that it currently has just N2 million in its purse – home and abroad!
Why many folks will continue to wonder why President Goodluck Jonathan government will financially kill the goose that is supposed to lay the golden egg for Nigeria, knowing that the country’s Number One Problem is CORRUPTION, many do not know why the financial crisis rocking the agency is so acute.
Well, ireportertv has found out. Most organizations that used to give the EFCC grant have stopped doing so because they believe the current government is not too keen on fighting corruption.
“They started withdrawing their support during the Fariza Waziri tenure as EFCC chairman. But it has become almost a total thing now because they see corruption flying up and down when Jonathan has also said that corruption is not one of Nigeria’s main problems,” a junior officer at EFCC told ireportertv this morning.
